Where flammable gases, vapours, dusts, or mists can occur, ATEX directives apply. Rixen's RW65_EX_II is intrinsically safe for Zones 0/1/2 and 20/21/22 — a mechanical differential pressure gauge with built-in 2-wire transmitter, from 40 Pa span.

What ATEX requires here

EU Directive 2014/34/EU applies to equipment and protective systems in explosive atmospheres. Intrinsic safety (Ex ia) achieves this by limiting current and voltage in the circuit.

  • Certified power supply is mandatory
  • Wiring with approved cables and segregation
  • Documented conformity required
  • Recurring inspection of the installation

Why the ring balance is an elegant solution here

The measuring principle of the ring balance is entirely mechanical — no pressure-sensitive sensor, no diaphragm, no spring. The integrated transmitter reads only the rotation angle of the ring body contactlessly and converts it into a current signal. This transmitter is the intrinsically safe element.
